Better Together

Schools back in session and December 17th is coming quicker than I'd like for it to. At 34 you would think that the pre-grad jitters would be fading and that I would be thankful for the completion of a very long process. I am thankful, just not sure how to answer the so, what are you going to do now question. As I walk across campus I see students in their 20's, some making the same mistakes I did by not taking the first chance seriously, others with purpose, plans and passions.

People go about things in as many ways as there are fingerprints, we each have our own unique stamp to put on the world. What will yours do? What will mine do? It's occurred to me a lot lately that we are all connected. Do you remember those ice breakers at company seminars that include the string/yarn and everyone taking an end of it. When one person pulls the string everyone feels it. Likewise when someone drops it, you feel the loss. For all the commuters out there what about traveling down the interstate and someone ahead of you having an unfortunate accident, traffic could be stopped for hours. All of that to say we all have a part to play and each part is important.

I just left my human biology class where we are learning the basics. A cell by itself is not powerful enough to do anything, however when that cell joins with other cells they begin to work together and form tissue, which in turn forms organs, which enable the body to function properly. We have dreams, most of which cannot be accomplished alone. My pastor said Sunday that he is learning to reach out and build the kingdom with others, not as a loan ranger, I'm working on adopting that as well.

Having a dream is not for us, it's for those around us. I'm looking forward to the counseling profession in some capacity, the goals and visions ahead of me require laying down my individuality and becoming unified with the "cell" next to me. Even Jesus sent his disciples out by two's. We each play a part, none smaller than or larger than the other...Will you join hearts, hands and lives with me as we march on toward the finish line?

These lines speak VOLUMES! Good grief woman! Your thought provoking ponderings are so powerful! Alas, to hear you speak must be a symphony. I love the concept of being the other "cell". It definitely puts another perspective on being part of the "body" of Christ...so much more intricate and so much more of a mandatory calling. Without the "cells" there are no hands to reach, or feet to spread the good-news. It starts with the basics of a cell. Professor God is AWESOME!
